Units

Principal Technology has 25 years of experience designing and building systems to remove and recover sulfur from process streams. Our Sulfur portfolio includes all units in the Sulfur Block - Amine Contactors and Regenerators, Sour Water Strippers, Sulfur Recovery, Tail Gas Treating, Thermal Oxidizers and Incinerators, Sulfur Degassing, and Oxygen Enrichment. Our experience ranges from front-end engineering, operations support, and training through Turnkey EPC of plants ranging in nameplate capacity from 2 LTPD to multi-train 1000+ LTPD facilities.

Our team has accumulated decades of specialized experience addressing some of the most pressing sulfur challenges. -- If it has sulfur in it, we can help you treat it!

    Amine Treating and Regeneration Units

Amine Treating and Regeneration Units are the cornerstone to the successful operation of any sulfur facility. From meeting your treated gas and liquids spec - to providing stable and consistent acid gas feed to your Sulfur Recovery Unit. Reliable ARU performance starts with engineering and equipment designed to meet the rigors of today's process plants. Our design team has the know-how to design your Amine Unit to improve your plant's reliability and uptime performance.

H2S Scavengers – Treating and Removal

For very low-capacity H2S bearing streams, process vent streams, and direct gas treating including biogas processes, anaerobic digestion, and landfill gas that cannot be efficiently or cost-effectively treated through traditional amine and sulfur recovery units, H2S scavengers can be an excellent option. While most scavenger technologies require increased operating costs for reagent replacement and disposal, Iron Sponge, fixed bed treating, and absorbent systems offer low CapEx investment.

    Oxygen Enrichment Systems

The nature of the Modified-Claus process requires the combustion of a portion of the incoming Acid Gas Feed along with all ammonia and hydrocarbons present in the feed. This process requires oxygen from combustion air, and nitrogen in the air comes along for the ride.

An easy way to improve unit capacity is to remove nitrogen from the unit by enriching the combustion air with pure oxygen.

    Small and Micro Capacity SRU

Changing domestic crude feedstocks and increasingly stringent state and federal environmental regulations have raised the demand for smaller-capacity Sulfur Recovery Units in a broader range of plants.

PTI specializes in modular units from under 2 to 50 LTPD, affording us unique experience and capabilities to address specific issues of small-capacity sulfur recovery, including Heat Conservation, Temperature Management, and Equipment Design to meet the particular needs of small-capacity operations while reducing overall cost.

    Sour Water Treating

Sour Water Processing and Sour Water Strippers provide the necessary treatment of refinery and processing plant water wash and wastewater streams to return to the process or to be safely disposed of through traditional wastewater treatment plants. Principal Technology's team can provide the technical expertise to improve your Sour Water operations, from operations support, training, and performance studies to equipment upgrades or complete turn-key unit construction.

    Sulfur Recovery Units

The sulfur team at Principal Technology has over three decades of design, fabrication, and operations support for all aspects of traditional modified-Claus Sulfur Recovery Units including modular and stick-built fabrication and construction, tail gas treating, thermal oxidizers, degassing, and storage and handling facilities. Our SRU portfolio includes over 2,000 LTPD combined nameplate capacity with over 11 Million Long Tons of Sulfur Recovered to date.

    Tail Gas Units

Tail Gas Units significantly increase in the overall recovery efficiency of your Sulfur Plant operations. The most common TGUs are either amine-based treating systems that recycle unrecovered H2S back to your SRU feed or Thermal Oxidizers with Caustic Wash systems that remove any residual sulfur species using caustic solutions that once treated can be safely sent to your wastewater system.
