Sulfur Plant Burner Pilots

Pilots used in SRUs, Thermal Oxidizers, and Incinerators must be designed to ignite and operate reliably in a pressurized and harsh environment, be constructed from high-temperature materials, and stand up to exposure to corrosive sulfur species.

PTI's Sulfur Pilots are premixed, natural gas, high-intensity pilots, constructed from high-alloy stainless steel that can provide 130,000 to 530,000 BTU/Hr.

PTI's Sulfur Burner Pilots are designed to provide reliable ignition of your SRU.

Flame front generators (FFGs), electric spark ignition, handheld torches, and even an oily rag on a stick have been used in SRU service for over the past half-century – some more successfully than others.

Principal Technology’s pilots for sulfur unit process burners are specifically designed to withstand the rigors of the harsh process environment experienced in your Sulfur Complex. Our design philosophy includes:

    • High-Alloy 310 Stainless Steel construction provides reliable long-term operation in harsh high, temperature, acid gas environments.
    • Staged combustion provides reliable ignition and high-intensity pilot flame. Our pilots’ relatively high BTU output (up to 530,000 BTU/Hr) is designed to provide controlled heat-up of refractory lined equipment during the critical dry-out transition phase experienced during initial start-up or after major turn-arounds.
    • When integrated with PTI’s automated purge system, our pilots include a cooling purge that allows them to remain in place during all phases of the SRU or Incinerator operation.
    • Designed for either continuous or interrupted operation, PTI pilots can be used in most process gas furnaces, including SRU Thermal Reactors, Thermal Oxidizers, Incinerators, and more.
    • Designed for reliable operation over a broad range of furnace pressures ranging from natural draft stacks to purged and positive pressure special atmosphere SRU Thermal Reactors.
